How much does ceramic coating cost?

Ceramic coating is priced on the car in front of us, not a one-size-fits-all number. The things that change the price:

• Vehicle size. A full-size truck has a lot more paint than a coupe.
• Paint condition. A coating locks in whatever is under it. New paint needs a light polish. Swirled, spotted paint needs more correction first, and that's most of the labor.
• Extras. Wheels, glass and plastic trim can be coated too.

Is ceramic coating worth it in Florida?

Florida is one of the best places to own a coated car. The sun oxidizes paint and fades trim. Lovebugs in May and September are acidic and etch clear coat if they sit. Afternoon storms leave mineral water spots. A coating handles all of it by giving everything a slick, protective surface to sit on instead of your paint.

If you keep your car more than a couple of years and like it clean, a coating saves you time every single wash.

How we apply a ceramic coating

• Wash and decontaminate. A hand wash, then iron and tar removers to get out what washing can't.
• Polish. Swirls and spots are polished out as needed, because the coating will seal in whatever's there.
• Panel prep. Every panel is wiped down so the coating bonds to bare clear coat, not leftover polish oils.
• Coating. Applied panel by panel indoors, then leveled by hand.
• Cure. The car stays inside while the coating cures before it goes home.

Caring for a coated car

Keep it dry for the first day or two and skip soap for about a week. After that, hand wash with a pH-neutral soap or use a touchless wash. Avoid brush car washes, which scratch any finish. Remove bugs and bird droppings soon. A coating makes it easy, but it isn't a force field. Do that and the gloss lasts for years.

Ceramic coating vs. PPF

A coating gives gloss and easy cleaning, but it won't stop a rock chip. Paint protection film will. That's why our most popular combination is PPF on the front end and ceramic coating on everything, film included.
