Is paint protection film worth it?

For most people who keep a car more than a couple of years, yes. One repainted bumper or hood costs a large part of what a full front costs, and the film also protects the car's resale value. It's especially worth it if you drive the Turnpike, SR-429 or I-4, park near construction, or own a car with soft paint (Teslas, many German cars and most dark colors).

If you lease, PPF on the front end can help you avoid paying for chip damage when you turn the car in.

PPF vs. ceramic coating

They're not competitors. PPF is physical armor against chips, scratches and sand. Ceramic coating is a glossy, slick layer that makes water and dirt slide off, but it won't stop a rock. The most popular setup we install is PPF on the front end, where chips happen, and ceramic coating over the film and the rest of the paint. You get chip protection where you need it and easy washing everywhere.

Clear bra, PPF, paint protection film: same thing?

Yes. "Clear bra" is the older name, from the days when people put black vinyl bras on the front of their cars. Today's film is clear, self-healing and nearly invisible, and it's what we install.

How we install PPF

• Decontamination wash. Tar, bugs and iron are removed so nothing gets trapped under the film.
• Paint check. We look over the paint with you and point out any chips or swirls that should be fixed first.
• Fit and install. Film is laid indoors with slip solution, then squeegeed into place panel by panel.
• Edges. Edges are wrapped where the panel allows and sealed so they stay down.
• Final look. Felix checks every panel in good light before you pick up.

Caring for PPF

Wait a week before the first wash so the film can settle. After that, hand wash or touchless wash, and don't aim a pressure washer straight at an edge. Small bubbles or haze in the first days are normal moisture and clear up on their own in the sun. Bugs and bird droppings come off much more easily than they do from bare paint, so wipe them off soon.
